This display is not so easy to use because there is no documentation or marks on it that indicates which pins are what. You can figure it out by trial and error though. Each segment is like a small led on it's own so you need to put resistors on all input pins if you are using a 5v system to power it. Also to be able to display more than one digit you need to do multiplexing (rapidly switching segments on and off) so it sort of requires a dedicated program/controller just to display digits. It's a "dumb" display, basically a bunch of leds laid out like numbers. But it's usable for some things for sure and very cheap.
