Works with a SSD but may require an alternate power source for older HDDs. Have not been able to successfully power up an HDD out of the few I have tested. It is plugged a SS USB port on my computer which may be current limited as well, so more experimentation may be required. Works with a SSD but may require an alternate power source for older HDDs.
