When fully closed there’s about a 6/16 of an inch gap. When fully opened it opens to about a 2 3/4 wide. There’s silicone in one opening to prevent clasp from going off track.
Very light in weight. It will serve its purpose. Not for heavy usage. I would recommend. Item received as expected.

Really great tool, came in very handy for those larger nuts to undo, makes undoing them a breeze, I fully recommend this tool, not just for plumbing.
