If you are looking for a simple, unobtrusive ring of light this is a great option. It was an easy installation aside from making sure to take it out of the packaging so that the cords do not cross. The mounting requires attachment to the ceiling but it appears that is could be mounted using an existing fixture box. The weight is nominal especially for the fixture size and I suspect it would not necessarily require a ceiling fan box for proper support. The light is dimmable using the appropriate LED dimmer. Be aware that the light emanates from the underside of the ring which may not provide enough general upper room lighting but is plentiful for dining.
